On-demand library

Films and series, on your schedule

For the evenings when nothing on live TV suits everyone. Here is how the on-demand side works, and how to find something that the whole family can agree on.

Live TV and on-demand: the difference

Live channels play what is on right now, just like ordinary TV. The on-demand library is more like a shelf: you choose a title, press play, pause it for dinner, then carry on later. In most player apps, these are separate sections of the menu.

On-demand titles are often easier on your connection than live sport, as the player can load ahead a little. If live sport freezes but films run smoothly, that tells us something useful about your connection.

Finding something to watch

  • Browse by genre, or use search with just a word or two
  • Save titles to a list as you think of them
  • Check the audio track and subtitles in the options menu
  • Use a PIN, if your app has one, to keep some titles from children

Family politics

Who is watching tonight?

Everyone together

Agree a shortlist of three while dinner is cooking, then vote. It saves 40 minutes of scrolling, and possibly a family dispute.

Series, one a night

Note which episode you are on. Not every player remembers across devices, so a family note on the fridge really does help.

Regional and language films

If you want Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali or another language, tell us. We will check what is on offer before you decide.

After the children are asleep

A phone or tablet with earphones works well if the living room is taken. The same login may work on it. Ask us about screens.

Questions about films and series

Is a particular new film on the service?

Ask us, naming the title. We would rather give a clear answer for that one film than print a list that might be out of date tomorrow. We do not promise any specific title in advance.

Can I download films to watch offline?

That depends on the player app, and many do not offer it. Plan on having an internet connection while you watch.

Why do some titles have no subtitles?

Subtitles vary from title to title. If one is important to you, test it early, and ask us if you need help finding the option in your player.
